Tumblr is now showing this warning to people who use the missing e browser extension. I don’t use it; I plucked this screenshot from someone who I found on the extension’s tag page. The general sentiment seems to be indifference, but a lot of people are also (relatively) horrified about their entire tumblr experience, and I can’t totally blame them.
This whole issue is a mess but I don’t think this tactic makes it any better. You’re a little kid and one of your parents’ friends comes over and offers you a slice of the pie in your kitchen and you start eating it and then your parents see what you’re doing.
Should Mom tell you to stop eating the slice of pie you’re already enjoying, or should she reprimand her friend who, yes, is a guest in her home, but is still a friend (or at least a peer)? Or maybe there’s a reason that fella was so eager to sneak you some pie?
